Which browsers are supported?
Eigo.AI runs in your web browser on a desktop computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. You do not need to install an Eigo.AI app.
Use one of the browsers below at its listed minimum version or newer. We recommend updating to the latest available version and keeping your operating system updated.
| Device / operating system | Supported browsers / minimum versions |
|---|---|
| iPhone or iPad (iOS / iPadOS) | Safari 14.5 or newer |
| Android phone or tablet | Chrome 87 or newer |
| Windows computer | Chrome 87+, Firefox 78+, or Edge 88+ |
| Mac (macOS) | Safari 14.1+, Chrome 87+, Firefox 78+, or Edge 88+ |
| Chromebook (ChromeOS) | Chrome 87 or newer |
If your device cannot install a supported browser version, use a newer device. For a class, check that a short Speak recording and a Discuss reply work before the lesson begins.
Microphone and audio
You need a working microphone for Speak and for spoken replies in Discuss. Allow microphone access when your browser asks. A webcam is not required for these activities. You can also type replies in Discuss.
- Open the site using https:// and allow its microphone permission in your browser’s site settings.
- If recording is blocked, check that your device’s privacy settings also allow the browser to use the microphone.
- Check your volume and audio output. Headphones can help prevent the lesson audio from being picked up by your microphone.
- Keep the lesson tab open and your screen awake while recording or waiting for your reply.
See the Speak guide and Discuss guide for activity instructions.
Open links in your browser
If you opened a lesson from an email, messaging app, or QR-code scanner, it may be running inside that app’s built-in browser. Use Open in Safari, Open in Chrome, or the app’s equivalent option. You can also copy the lesson link and paste it into your browser.
Built-in browsers can limit sign-in, audio playback, or microphone access.
Browser settings and extensions
Allow JavaScript and cookies for the site so you can sign in and use activities. If a lesson fails to load, record, or save, check whether a content-blocking or privacy extension is interfering. Try a site-specific exception or pause the extension for this site, then reload and try again.
Internet and school networks
Eigo.AI needs an internet connection to load lessons, recognize speech, and save work. A browser can be up to date while a school network still blocks a connection needed for speech recognition.
If recording works but speech recognition does not finish, tell your teacher or institutional manager. They can check the institution’s speech-transcription setting and ask IT staff about network restrictions. On a managed school device, ask IT staff for help with browser updates and microphone permissions.
