What changes when paid access expires?
When a student’s paid institutional access period ends, their usage limits return to the standard free-account limits. Without another active access entitlement, they no longer have full paid access to Eigo.AI.
The expiry process also resets their selected level to Beginner, feedback and definitions language to English, and voice selection to the default. Their monthly AI-token allowance, speaking-time allowance, and pronunciation-attempt limit return to the free-account defaults.
The institution manager receives an email stating how many students’ access periods have expired. Expiry alone does not mean those students should be removed from the institution.
What stays in place?
- The student’s Eigo.AI account remains available, and they can still sign in.
- The student remains in the institution and their assigned class.
- Saved learning progress and previous work are retained; expiry does not delete or clear them.
Students can continue using the features available to free accounts and review previous work. Paid access expiring does not delete the account.
Help students who are continuing
Keep continuing students in their classes and ask your institution manager to arrange renewed access. A new access code or an administrator-set access period can restore full access without creating a new account or clearing progress.
Students who already have a valid unused code can follow How to redeem an access code. They do not need to buy another code. If new codes are needed, your manager can reply to the expiry email or contact Eigo.AI.
After access is restored, check the student’s assigned level and relevant settings before they resume study. See How to set student levels.
If a student has left the institution
Ask your institution manager to remove students who no longer belong to the institution. A teacher’s class-removal action is not the same as removing institutional membership.
The manager uses Institution → Users → Manage Users, selects the students, and chooses Remove from institution from the With … users menu. The manager’s removal guide explains the steps.
Removing a student from the institution also removes them from their class and clears their progress-sharing links. Institutional access, temporary access, and custom usage limits are reset. Their Eigo.AI account and saved learning progress remain; they can continue to sign in with a free account.
Do not delete an account or clear progress simply because paid access has expired.
What happens later to inactive accounts?
After a student is removed from the institution, a free student account that has been inactive for more than 12 months becomes eligible for deletion. This is a separate inactivity process, not an immediate consequence of paid access expiring.
The student receives a 28-day email warning and can keep the account by signing in before the deletion date. If the account remains inactive, it may then be deleted following admin review. Students who remain members of an institution are not included in this free-student inactivity-deletion process.
